Lack of Empathy

Pros

Friendly people and Good office

Cons

The company shows a complete lack of respect and empathy toward its people. Employees are treated as disposable resources rather than human beings, stripped of dignity and basic compassion. I have never witnessed People Partners, who are meant to protect and support employee wellbeing, behave with such coldness and cruelty. During redundancy discussions, they are ruthless and emotionally detached. They hold grudges and use their position not to support, but to intimidate and control. Line managers operate without honesty or courage. One day they speak about long-term plans and future projects as if you have security; the next day, you receive an email instructing you not to come into the office. The contrast is shocking and deeply destabilising. Leadership is chaotic and directionless, leaving employees in a constant state of uncertainty and anxiety. There is no concern for the personal struggles or mental health of staff. The only thing that matters is delivery and deadlines, right up until the moment you are forced to provide medical proof that you are no longer fit to work.

Pros

There is a good sense of openness and friendship. A lot of effort goes in to diversity and inclusivity. Managers genuinely seem to care about myself and others.

Cons

Amongst the developers, cynicsm is rife. This is especially true among those who've been in the company for a long time. They've seen too many projects fail and have developed a sort of learned helplessness where they avoid thinking about the best way to do things and aim squarely for the least disruptive way. There's a very common refrain of "management won't go for it" that drives me up the wall, especially because it is often true.

Great people, but they are all leaving

Pros

*People* MOO attracts a great social, creative and smart workforce. I enjoyed going into work everyday because of it. *Work* Can be high pressure but the team are always recognised for it *Environment* Offices are fantastic (I took this for granted). The smaller celebrations are great and feel genuine. Fantastic mega parties. I will miss that most!

Cons

*Career* Although people do great work promotions and job role changes are VERY slow to come about. Sometimes understandable, sometimes not. *Growing Pains* The great culture MOO had cultivated is falling away. Although this has not profit assigned to it, people that generate the great work will leave in search for that special something MOO once had. *Salary* lower than expected
