Pros

As an employee of MSCI for over three years, I think the best thing about the firm is the varied experiences our environment offers. I have been given the opportunities to own projects from start to finish and to work in areas/functions I had not previously had experience. I feel my opinion is valued and matters because I am converse with senior leaders every day as a NY employee. I also appreciate the opportunity I have to interact with peers around the global who are leading minds in the index and analytics space. Our products win awards and are valued by our clients and I am proud to continue to play a part in this.

Cons

There is nothing that comes to mind.

Pros

Strong business model, smart colleagues, at forefront of thinking on key investment topics

Cons

You are a production unit, useful until value fully extracted (makes Goldman seem like a nunnery); company fails to live up to it's lofty aspirations of how employees are valued, horrid work-life balance. You are expected to squeeze all possible value from clients, while company squeezes all possible value from you. Not a place to build career.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We strive to be fully supportive of our employees and are keen to promote a healthy balance between work and personal life. We encourage anyone who feels they are not getting the support they need, or if they are finding their stress levels to be unmanageable to speak up - either to their manager or their local HR representative.

Pros

Flexible schedule Clock in and out Good place to go after you get real experience and just want to coast

Cons

-Layoffs every 2-3 years like clockwork. -They get rid of people who try to suggest changes, after a while I realized change is not going to happen.

Thank you for your feedback, we always value commentary on Glassdoor. At MSCI we pride ourselves with demonstrating flexibility in the way our teams operate – we believe engaged teams are more productive and flexibility is a key driver of engagement. Naturally we are disappointed to read that you believe those who suggest changes are restructured – we are always looking to develop and as you know, innovation which leads to change is a core part of our DNA. It is true, however, that we have a performance culture – as do many other organisations – and as such, from time time, we restructure and employees leave us. These decisions are not taken lightly but are not unique to MSCI. However, we hope that our desire to care about our employees and former employees resonates and that our Alumni, with time, understand the decisions that are made. Our Alumni community is also important to us and we welcome feedback from them.
