Pros

Lots of opportunities to move around the business and internationally

Cons

Work you into the ground if you are not a woman or transgendered. There are seriously big privileges given to "others" over men.

I was disappointed to read your review, particularly around your perceptions of how women and transgender employees are treated differently to men. Let me assure you that our policies are to treat all employees equitably, with fairness and respect, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation. Over the last two years we have done some excellent work to raise awareness of and foster diversity and inclusion in Mace – this is part of what will sustain our competitive edge into the future and attract new and diverse talent to the industry. In respect of working long hours, I appreciate that this can be an issue for some project teams especially at key stages of a project when the pressure is really on. We are looking at how Mace can help project teams work more flexibly so that our people can all achieve a better work life balance in the future. - Mace People Director

Pros

An International company. Not so popular in Hong Kong though. Not many jobs in hand but luckily still surviving. Best consultancy for spending money asap for client who really want to spend their money very quick.

Cons

"Hang the goat head but sell the dog meat" is the best Chinese phase to describe Mace in HK. The HR said whatever to attract you to join, e.g. Competitive salary, career progression, etc. Once I joined, I realized that I'm in the same job as the other but we have a very different salary - 20% different! Also, due to lack of projects (as Mace in HK is pretty useless in running projects and is a money spending consultancy, no point to use Mace unless the Client really want to throw money into the sea asap), the new comer like me have to "queue up" to go up the corporation ladder in a very political office environment. I left Mace after 2 years and straight away I found another job and I got my salary which is double to what I earned in Mace.

Pros

The opportunities for training are very good; they definitely encourage you to develop and take advantage of courses as much as possible. The variety of projects and sectors that the company works on means there is always some means by which you can further your knowledge or ask someone for some help when needed. The company culture is a dynamic one and staff are encouraged to strike a good work/life balance.

Cons

Because of the size of the organisation, there is an occassional risk of being put into a silo, thus lusing the broader feel of the company. Decision-making with regard promotions and workload for staff at the same level seems to be disparate and opportunities for increased workload are often down to the luck of who you are line managed by rather than anything else.
