Pros

Great opportunity to learn about retail, and many opportunities to advance if you're a hard worker. Macy's gives you the opportunity to learn about the retail business on a large scale. Never a boring day, if you have one then you're probably not doing a good job. Great place to work after college and gain managerial experience, that will help you further on down the road.

Cons

Very stressful, especially during this economic time. There coupon system is frustrating and needs to addressed, they would have much more success with customer service.

Pros

You can learn various aspects of running/planning a business at an entry level, so long as you have the right Manager.

Cons

I rarely worked with my Management - Vendor and Store. Maybe 2 times with the Vendor in a year. And you run into your Macy's management by chance. So, if you are looking to grow make sure you understand what time your management can spend with you.

Pros

There are many opportunities and career paths that Macy's offers. For entry level applicants, it is great as they offer one of the best training programs in the industry, and promotions happen regularly. You get exposed to all facets of a large corporation and are able to shape your career based on your interests, from private label product teams, buying, marketing, human resources, and design. Management is very educated and driven and pushes their employees. It is a great place to learn and start a career and figure out your professional strengths and weaknesses. Motivated indivuals are recognized by management and given more responsibility accordingly.

Cons

It is very corporate in nature, and comes with the many beuracracies involved. It can be easy to get "lost in the sauce" and pigeon holed into a career path if you aren't firm in your wants. It is also ran so differently by departments, so initial entry level placement may dictate your promotion time frame.
