Pros

You gain a lot of experience as an AST. You get to help others and have many different projects under one department.

Cons

Management is very disorganized. Better training is needed and a better pay would be nice . Hire more people on time so that the department isn't short.

Pros

Employee discount is not worth the exhaustion, disrespect and bad treatment by managers and some full time employees and you won't be able to get it anyways. I used my Macy's card and it never reflected on the account. In order to get it fixed, you need to call credit line, wait on the line for min 20 minutes and they will probably not solve it anyways like all other credit issues.

Cons

Managers treated me terrible and not only me but to all seasonal employees. I was told on the phone when I was offered the job that I'd work at jewellery section with base and commission, then it turned out I was hired for all departments and commission plan is made in a way that you can never get it. I was not told that I had a quota to hit to get my commission then after 2 weeks, I learned that I have a quota. Full time employees never give their registers to us and I was kicked out of all registers so they could get all the sales. I couldn't get any commission at all. It was waste of time, energy and full of stress. Full time staff treats all seasonal staff like we're inferior. I kept having arguments with a manager because I clocked in early to work extra hours. She asked me to go home and when I said she was not my manager to send me home, she called security to kick me out of the store. This work place is full of discrimination and wrongful treatment. Bad management with no empathy and no understanding. They don't ask full time employees to work till mid night but try to use seasonals to clear the floor, do go backs, fix the beds and clothes and do all the dirty work instead of selling. At the end of the week, after being kicked out of all registers, I ended up getting minimum wage for working 52/hr a week, no commission plus the bad treatment by managers and majority of full time employees.
