      Horrible !! Magic Maker one year, job terminated 8 months later!! They will RUN YOU INTO THE GROUND!!!

      Pros

      So short handed so you learn it all....YOU DO NOT HACE A CHOICE! Pretty good about giving you time off when requested ahead of time....IF your manager likes you. Middle management at the store is usually nice, and Ive had a very good store manager when I started....3 in 3.5 years !!!

      Cons

      So horribly run, the MOST NEGATIVE place you COULD EVER WORK AT!! Did I mention upper management does not acknowledge workers when they visit? We work in retail, we're NOT doctors! Stupid Points System....even if you are sick you can NOT call off, you lose points and PAY! Also if you lose ALL your points you lose your job. Macys is in awful shape and eliminated great talent. Those they kept have to do 5 jobs...oh and clientele, and open cards! Basically they are being run into the ground... Macys mentality in upper management is totally OUT OF TOUCH and could NOT do an everyday workers job if they waned to. NO CLUE how to actually work.

      Do Not Work at Macy's South Coast Plaza

      Honestly, none. I tried to be generous and think of some but ultimately, that would be lying.

      Cons

      The Store Manager and "Senior Management Team" are absolute morale killers. In my time at the Macy's South Coast Plaza store, I witnessed harrassment, abuse, favoritism, and so much more. About 10 Sales Managers quit in 1 year, which I think is a record and is a HUGE deal when that is half of the Sales Managers in this store. As an employee who is part of the Executive Development Program (EDP), I feel they have failed to provide a safe working environment and have not shown any concern or helpfulness in helping me reach my career goals. PLEASE read the other reviews about the EDP and about this store and take them to heart. You will want to die if you end up working here.

      Great Place to Start but Experience based on Brand

      Pros

      -Benefits -Some great people that I have made lasting relationships with -Macy's has a huge reach and great opportunities internally -Gives back to the community

      Cons

      -Low level of creativity and not fostered or pushed to innovate designs for private label -I was in Men's and Women's. Men's had a great environment and work/life balance would highly recommend joining a Men's team. Women's is not a great environment there are senior management that restrict your job to the greatest extent. There is less of a work/life balance in Women's private label.
