Not Worth The Pay

Pros

They pay you money and they have a 401k plan, plus additional bonuses for sales numbers.

Cons

The management have no idea what they're doing. Most of them would rather sit down in their office all day or argue with you for the sake of being right. They are completely desperate for more employees and yet have no issues firing people for the dumbest reasons. Any information that benefits you or allows you to not be a work slave is only shared by your fellow employees, never by the people in charge. The system for the register hasn't been up-to-date since 1993 and constantly crashes or gives you a hard time. Their employee database is also archaic and they will almost never do anything that benefits you but always that benefits them. Complete trainwreck of an experience that is the same for nearly every Macy's in the Los Angeles area.

Pros

Good career start you can play the game and learn the job in your own with no one really trained to train you

Cons

Chaos in management training program they speak of is non existent. Really no team atmosphere that they preach it's everyone for themselves they need some sort of a training system that is regulated because you'll be told your just not getting it. Meaning not understanding the job which you understand what they teach which isn't much at all and you learn more from video training than anything. You can last there if you don't speak up about all the things needing to be fixed and don't ask questions because they expect you to know everything keep your head down and just say yes and you can or get in the click.

Pros

Every few months there's a catered lunch.

Cons

The department managers on the floor are clueless to what's really going on. They aren't involved especially in the cosmetics area in see what's going on. Certain business managers were lazy and didn't want to do anything and would disappear for hours at a time. Those ones that were always disappearing were sucking up to the department managers and the department managers became buddy buddy with them. Therefore they got away with everything. Manipulating time. Not spending time on the floor with customers as well as the employees. I managed my own area and I constantly had to go over to other areas where people were never to be found yet they weren't on breaks. I never left my area except to go to the bathroom I ran a stellar business with tons of customers that were repeat and I was really good to my team and I never got rewarded. I had a total of 10 years with Macy's. After COVID everything got really bad. I'm so disappointed in the way that I was treated. They really just showed that they did not care about me and they really didn't care who they had employed it was just bodies on the floor. I was really hurt when I left because I gave my heart to my job. I was one of the hardest working people in department constantly always doing things to help other people as well as my team and running successful numbers. They made me feel like they didn't even care if I was there. I'll never go back again.
