Pros

There is nothing good about this employer

Cons

Lousy pay. Lousy Boss. Many of my co-workers need public assistance to feed their families. The sales people are pushed to make record sales but it is the managers who are rewarded with a bonus. The sales people are treated like crap.

Pros

Generally cooperative with scheduling, if you know management well, don't do much on the sales floor, sometimes you receive gratis

Cons

VERY poor pay, WAY overworked for nothing in return, Management looks down on you, nothing is ever good enough; they keep piling on tasks, sometimes catty environment, unruly customers that want everything for nothing, POOR work/life balance; you are a SLAVE, An overwhelming amount of sales, coupons, promotions... nothing ever makes sense, You will get passed up on advancement from people outside the company, even if you have seniority and education.

Pros

As a manager I was compensated well.

Cons

As a sales manager you have very little control over sales. There are too many cooks in the kitchen. The management structure is flat and anyone you take to has to check with someone else to do what you want to do and the person that needs to be check with is not there. While i was there they were trying to change the culture from an order taker culture to a sales culture. The problem is they didn't know how to get there or how to measure the employees conversion. They used the same metric they did before the conversion. You can not have regional, district and store managers that have no idea how to sell steering the ship to a sales culture change. I was in a meeting the second day i was with the company and the store manager said "Sales makes good customer service." I figured I didn't quit hear her correctly so I asked her to repeat it. She did exactly the same way. In my 20 years of retail, sales management and sales experience I had never heard it put that way. I asked do you mean, 'Customer service makes good sales?" She said, no" and repeated her statement. Since I was hired for my sales acumen I decided to yet here know she had it backwards. To the company's credit they asked this individual to resign shortly after. Unfortunately her replacement lacked the skills to manage other managers. To be honest there are too many other horror stories to mention, from myself and the other managers I had talked too.
