Pros

The kids are very cute and fun

Cons

They will actually take money from you if you are late, no show, or do something that they think is wrong. They take more money than the class is worth. The communication is terrible. They will not answer your questions for weeks. They are extremely nitpicky and made me so nervous that it was hard to teach. While I was doing my first demo, they sent messages saying, "We are here watching you". After I taught a class with all positive evaluations from parents, they told me I muted too much and did not have enough energy. I opened up my availability but I did not teach any classes for 2 weeks because no one was available to give me feedback. I was available for feedback on 4 different occasions and was told that I was going to receive a call. They never followed through on their promises. I spent valuable time taking a noise workshop (which is actually their issue with the platform). They are also extremely unprofessional with comments like, "kind of busy during teaching hours lol"

Dear teacher, we are truly sorry that we made you feel like this. We value every single teacher who works for us and we are always open to your suggestions. If during the time you are teaching with us we made the deduction that was not right according to our contract, please kindly send us an email with a proof and we will carefully check for you and compensate if needed. And we sincerely apologize for the lacking of communication and the tech issue you had with our platform.

Pros

* I make $23/hour * I get to work from home * work early so the rest of my day is available * amazing training from the company and other teachers * sick policy is such a relief if you really have to cancel * I ranked up quickly and was offered a secondary position

Cons

*you have to be patient and focus on improving your teaching before ranking up and getting booked more, so this could take some time. If you are in it for the long haul, it is so worth it though!

Pros

Neat platform, has good potential

Cons

Social media aspect is very odd! It seems as if many have had the kool aid! Also, ME staff in China is very involved in many Facebook group groups (ME ones, esl groups...). I definitely don’t get a good vibe with this company.

Thank you for your comment. Official and prospective teachers post questions and meaningful moments on Facebook to share with their coworkers spontaneously. We staff sincerely wish every teacher could identify with MagicEars and feel comfortable working with us. We post announcements and at the same time interact with teachers. We are actually trying to stay active to maintain a good vibe. Sorry if you feel the opposite. We are open to management advice.
