      Pros

      Challenging work content. Interesting domain.

      Cons

      There is no encouragement to develop your skills. In some cases, employees are actively discouraged from learning domain-specific skills. Managers play favorites and keep the techies pitted against one another. They are - as another reviewer said - trying to "carve out their own little fiefdoms". Anyone who tries to grow beyond his role is in danger of losing his job. So is anyone who does not fit in with his immediate manager's plan to achieve his "fiefdom". Since every team is working against multiple deadlines and there is no unified leadership, the teams are constantly colliding against each other.

      Manhattan doesn't keep good talent.

      Pros

      The work (consulting to a wide variety of clients across the country) was interesting. The products are good. Many of the people are good people. The clients were good people.

      Cons

      The travel was oppressive. The management was even more oppressive. If you are not within the "in" crowd, you can forget about moving up. Leadership talks the talk, but does not walk the walk. They talk about treating their employees and customers well. They do not. They are getting a bad reputation in the marketplace because of it. The company does not appreciate the wealth of knowledge in their seasoned consultants. They dump them and replace them with raw college-hires. As a result, clients are short-changed.

      Supply Chain involves more than the Big Box

      Pros

      Beast of Bread makes it easy to open doors. Their business development process is well oiled and most the staff is experienced in the process. Generally an extremely well focused company.

      Cons

      The company is overly focused on their flagship product, WMS. Their solution process always leads with WMS and then whatever else fits the requirements. A true supply chain company focuses on the solution first and then picks the applications that support the solution not the other way around.
