Pros

The hiring process is easy and relatively straight forward. Good first job for college students that don't need to earn a lot. The are multi-national so, conceivably, wherever you move you can still always work for them.

Cons

The starting rate is minimum wage, regardless of past retail experience. The store stays a mess because they wont hire sufficient staff to keep it orderly. Most of the staff are college students with limited work experience and dubious work ethics--this translates to high shrinkage and older workers doing more than their fair share. The store is open until 9:30 pm as opposed to 9:00 pm like other retail establishments in the area. Then you have to wait for management to audit registers. So, routinely, the associates don't walk out of the store until after 10:00 pm. There is little established in the way of a clear career path. The training was insufficient. They do not promote hiring from within. If your total store sales are high enough that you can become a manager, once you become a manger, you are often transferred to a store with lower sales so that you can improve it. The net result is that you work in the worst, and oldest, stores for much of your career.

Pros

Friendly associates, Easy to request time off, easy job if you know what you're doing, managers are always available to talk to if you have an issue.

Cons

Can't move up within the company even if you've been working there for a while, Part-Timers aren't guaranteed ANY hours so don't be surprised if you're only working there 1 day a week.

Pros

The best reason to work at Marshalls was when I was done I didn't feel like I took any of my work stress home with me. Plus the clothes were fun!

Cons

Not a very good discount at all. Plus if you wanted more hours they always seemed to hire new people instead of giving you full time so they could avoid benefits. Plus my schedule jumped around crazy.
