Pros

-flexible hours - pay increase every 6 months given you earned it - sufficient part-time job - recommend to full-time students -good coworkers

Cons

-under new leadership -hours cut -understaffed which resulted in employees working 10 times harder with no pay increase (which was promised) and no effort to hire new people immediately. -Four employees left within a span of 2 weeks after already being understaffed due to neglect of employees.

Pros

A great and fun place to work at if you enjoy working with kids. Mathnasium has it's own tutoring formula which you will receive plenty of training on. It's very easy to learn and helps organize the tutoring so that you do not have to come up with your own lesson plans. Mathnasium is a casual work environment and has a flexible work schedule (not the hours as much, but the days are flexible). Many kids that come to Mathnasium are very fun to teach, and you can even choose to play games with them as a reward for doing their work.

Cons

The pay is a little low at around $10.00 an hour for a tutoring job. However, the benefit is that you have a center to go to and lesson plans are made for you, so it's easier than being a private tutor. My only other complaint is that the training is a little lacking. You have to take a math test and score well to work here, so there's no need to train you in the math. But I would have liked to have more training in how to teach kids so they get it, since Mathnasium requires no prior tutoring experience, and I had none. Also some training in working with difficult kids would be helpful, though you can always ask your coworkers for help with that.

Pros

decent pay rate, the math is usually pretty simple, not physically demanding by any means

Cons

very limited operating hours, so even if you work the whole shift everyday they're open, you're looking at 20 hours a week max. The previous owner of the Center was very nice and generous; however, the new owners are not. My schedule was reduced more than it already was, even though I was told that I would get more, and I'm not getting paid as much as I was before. Your experience may be determined by the owners of the Center you work for. Finally, the "Math Center" more often than not is a math themed daycare for elementary students.
