Pros
Great benefits. I've made more friends working here than for any other company. Great rewards if you like toys, books, and junk food from the vending machine. Constant update via newsletters, meetings, and to those applicable, even emails. I've only heard great news of Robert A. Eckert so I rated him a 5. I have not the pleasure of working with or for him.
Cons
As cheerful as the environment pretends to be, more than half the associates there are unhappy with their job and I know at least two managers who feel the same (but haven't had any luck with being hired by better companies) and two who have already left the company because they've found someplace better to work. Half the managers there don't know what they're doing and look to their associates for assistance. Two of my coworkers and I trained our manager and have to constantly remind that manager how to do his/her job. Also, it is difficult for us to be honest in rating our own manager when he or she collects the reviews instead of allowing us to turn it in to our general manager anonymously. Associates have to lie about the management team in fear that they will be mistreated if they were to give them an honest rating. There is also poor communication between associates and managers. Information passed to managers to be passed to HR or upper management fail to reach those departments and not too many associates know that they are better off handing their concerns over themselves. There is strong distrust between the hierarchy and managers lack expert and referent power.
