Pros

The company offers great benefits, flexible work hours, and the work culture is very family oriented.

Cons

The culture can seem a bit strange at times. Not a lot of appreciation distributed evenly among coworkers.

Pros

Everybody hates their job at some point, and there are places where people hate their job a lot more for a lot less pay. The difference with McMaster is that the pay and benefits are absolutely phenomenal, and you don't do any work when you're not inside the building.

Cons

If you're in the management development program ("MT"), there is nearly no training or structure set up for you to learn or be successful at the company. It's truly every man (or woman) for themselves. Worse than that, is that you never feel any ounce of job security. In fact, you know that you'll be fired or you'll quit before they get the chance because you know it's inevitable.

Pros

People that work there are super smart and have crazy interesting backgrounds. Salary is fine (not THAT great compared to other jobs in Chicago), but the end of year bonus is amazing (3-5 months salary) and the retirement package is amazing (if you stay for 2+ years), and the fact that they pay for any classes you want is amazing.

Cons

There is almost no room for innovation or ownership of your work. If you are in "the operation" (sales, warehouse, finance, etc) it is the same routine of going in, doing your job, and going home. This is not a place for someone who is interested in having their work and their life intersect, as McMaster prides itself on completely isolating your personal life and your professional life.
