Pros

Some places have the ability to learn and grow. Many specialists to learn from.

Cons

So many. This review is strictly about HR. When my finger was bit and fractured and I had to go to emergency for care, I was told I needed to handle my own claim for my care. That’s literally your job?!? And I was only told this after I was contacted by the hospital to pay my bill for the ER visit as it was overdue. I provided everything to my immediate manager and the HR person. Who apparently is just allowed to ignore things he doesn’t like to do and I have to deal with it. Almost a year after leaving I can’t get my paystubs. Was told to use ‘the same password’ I used for xyz. Then told that I should log into the program that I couldn’t get payroll to reset for months when I worked there. I also couldn’t clock in for an extended period of time with this new system and it barely worked for only that function. I could not log into the system to check or change anything. Flash forward to now.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear of your workplace injury as the safety of our team is of utmost importance. Workers comp can be challenging to navigate and we realize it can be frustrating. It’s a common misconception that workers’ comp is managed internally at a company. It’s just like any other insurance- with 3rd party adjusters that manage the claims. HR has limited capabilities to support due to HIPPA. We CAN support in ensuring our 3rd party adjustors are being responsive but have no pull with the persons medical provider. We really look to our employees to work with their medical providers to ensure they are billing the appropriate party. We also appreciate your feedback regarding your experience with MedVet’s updated Human Capital Management and Payroll system. Over the past year, MedVet has upgraded our system and we understand that sometimes change may be a bit challenging. We are continuing to learn and grow with this more agile system and appreciate you sharing your experience as we move this more electronic and mobile system forward into the future. We are hopeful you have the information you need for your paystubs but if not, please be sure to reconnect with our Payroll team. We appreciate feedback as it helps us innovate and improve.

Pros

Most of the DVMs, RVTs, VAs, and CSRs are very hardworking and fun to work with. Three of the four Clinical Managers have a very high, impactful presence.

Cons

Understaffed and dangerous nurse to patient ratio. High turnover rate. PTO denied due to understaffing, but high turnover rate due to being burnt out from PTO denials. Very high workload and emotional demand on Nursing Department, which leads to compassion fatigue and burnout. Transfer of new, non-critical patients to Nursing had only been stopped a single time in all of my shifts. Very poor communication between Clinical Manager and Nursing Dept. Most staff who receive TLC awards are employees who keep their heads down, smile, and don't question methods/try to make positive changes. Employees who are extremely hard working and go above and beyond to implement positive change are overlooked for awards due to trivial matters that do not affect patient care. Those who try to make positive changes are met with resistance, which many times has led to the staff making the change themselves and management never even notices. These occurrences lends insight into how absent that CM was considering it was them who denied the change but then never noticed when we implemented it anyway. ER staffing is favored over Nursing staffing, which leads to high hospitalization rates and subsequently lower standards of care due to unsafe nurse to patient ratios. The cost of the care given is skewed beyond recognition. I would never take my pet to MedVet without a discount because I wouldn't be able to afford it, and knowing the low care administered to non-critical patients, I know the value of care couldn't hold a candle to the final bill. This is not because the nurses and doctors don't care, in fact, they care so much that they skip breaks to take care of the patients. It is the unsafe and unattended-to high nurse to patient ratio.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and helping us continue to evolve and make implementations for a healthy work environment. We are aware that our teams continue to be challenged by the increased workload that the past couple of years have brought and continue our focus on internal training opportunities along with strategic recruiting to attract the best and most skilled talent in our field. MedVet is committed to serving our Referral Partners and community 24/7 and we recognize that this requires mindfulness around scheduling and how we prioritize our team member's needed time to relax with our continued needs on those less-preferred days and shifts. We strive to always foster an environment that is positive, teamwork-oriented, and compassionate. Furthermore, we aim to grow leaders that promote an inclusive and collaborative environment, all while being approachable for any concerns from team members. MedVet prioritizes transparency and communication among all caregivers and we see these qualities as key elements for a healthy work environment. Communication continues to be a goal we work on and is our focus for our Employee Experience in 2022. Communication is truly a team-effort from leaders to the broader hospital and between our clinical departments that needs work from all sides. Additionally, we have resources available to employees to help offset burnout, such as our mental wellbeing apps, our Employee Assistance Program, and the creation of a well-being room. Utilizing PTO is always encouraged to help team members reset and recharge. We are always looking for ways to further innovate and improve so that team members do not feel over extended. We encourage any concerned team members to reach out to their HR Partner, Clinical Manager or Hospital Director for further discussion. Thank you for your feedback.

Pros

Intelligent and hardworking staff (technicians and staff). Some veterinarians are very smart and have good technical skills.

Cons

All employees are overworked. Most doctors are recent graduates who are book smart, but not technically smart. Will put employees and pets lives at risk to “just get things done”. Very high turnover rate. Extremely unsafe nurse-to-patient ratios in the nursing department. Lack of staff. PTO denied due to lack of staff. Minimal upper management presence/assistance. Poor communication between management and staff. Minimal acknowledgement of staff (except a select few). Extremely high cost for the “actual” care given.
