Corporate Greed and Cutting Corners.

Pros

The only pro is that the facilities are mostly nice, and the pay is okay.

Cons

The Worthington location is a huge orgy, and not-so-secret about it. The Hilliard location advertises that they see exotic pets, which the day staff does a great job at. Several ER doctors (mostly ones who work several shifts there a month but usually work in Worthington) refuse to even touch exotics, and even the ER doctors that do see them have to constantly call the specialists and have their hand held throughout the ordeal.

Pros

Advanced medicine, knowledgable doctors and loyal team members dedicated to patient care.

Cons

Negligent understaffing, useless management, severe lack of training. While the specialists are top noch and the medicine is highly advanced, any patient that stays in the ICU is grossly undermonitored. Brand new or begginer technicians have upwards of 20+ patients in the ICU assigned to them at any given time. Proper care is impossible to give for critical patients. Staff sometimes work up to 20 hours at a time with no breaks. Technicians are regularly asked to come in early and stay late. Lunch breaks are impossible to take. Patients die from neglicence and ignorance. There is no training protocol. New hires are given a list of patients on day one. Deadly mistakes are made. Management is completely useless and only rely on Ohio's corporate policies. Management refuses to take into account the local hospital's issues. Higher ups have completely alienated the staff from all departments. The turnover is absolutely ridiculous. Staff is miserable, over worked, underpaid and completely exhausted. Former employees have been diagnosed with PTSD from working here. Multiple former staff members report depression and thoughts of suicide during their employment with MedVet. Do not ever work here. It is an absolute nightmare.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate you letting us know of your concerns. We are committed to continuous improvement. However, your review contains inaccurate information that we want to clarify. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is a national shortage of veterinary technicians. MedVet is not immune to this staffing shortage. Patient care remains our top priority and reinforces our mission of "Leading Specialty Healthcare for Pets." As a result of our commitment to patient care, no patient has ever been in a situation to receive negligent care. While overtime is offered on a regular basis, staff members are not required to work overtime hours. In addition, robust training is provided for all employees including new hire orientation, on-the-job training, continuing education opportunities, leadership, culture and communication skills training and more. MedVet strives to adopt best practices across all of our hospitals--many of which have come from our talented New Orleans professionals. Compassion fatigue is a very real and serious effect of working in any healthcare field. MedVet offers continuing education focused on combating compassion fatigue at our locations. We also offer counseling support through our health insurance and employee assistance program. Should you have further concerns, we encourage you to reach out to our HR team (hr@medvetforpets.com) as we value feedback from employees both past and present.

Pros

The doctors and technician/aides are great and very compassionate about their work. The opportunity to learn and further your knowledge about vet med is endless, everyone's (well almost everyone) willing to take the time to teach you or answer your questions. It's a very fast paced, and keeps you busy if that's what you're looking for.

Cons

The stress that comes along with being busy and fast paced and the lack of appreciation you receive from management. You will have a schedule but expect to stay hours past your out time and management not blink an eye, and will tell you there's nothing that they can do about it. When there is an issue with the staff of being unhappy, it is made clear that they are replaceable (but management is golden) which makes everyone scared of losing their job and keeps them from sticking up for themselves. Be prepared the moment you say something for it to be turned around on you and you look like the bad person. The management can do no wrong. They also play favorites with the staff, for example it may be frowned upon for a technician to complain/make a scene about one thing but if another tech does the same they get yelled at.
