Pros

Got a lot of great experience and was able to make good connections. Very flexible with my school schedule as I was also taking a full course load while working there. I worked in the ER/ICU which allowed for flexibility. However, I did find out later that a coworker with the same job title was being paid $2.50 an hour more than me which I was not happy about. For reference, I made $15/hour.

Cons

The time when I worked at this specific MedVet location was early in the pandemic, and the hospital had recently opened. A little disorganized but that was likely due to the current circumstances of the pandemic and the recent opening.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and experience working at MedVet. Our organization is a teaching hospital and, as you mentioned, we love to give vet students, pre-vet students, and vet tech students the opportunity to work at MedVet and gain hands-on ER and Specialty exposure while also being in school. Additionally, the last few years a lot of work and effort has been put into analyzing job descriptions, role assignment, and fair pay within each geographic area. We are constantly re-evaluating these items and making adjustments where needed. Every employee has the opportunity to discuss career goals with managers and obtain their help working through a plan that involves both work by the employee as well as resources and support from MedVet. Thank you for sharing your voice.

Pros

MedVet's induction process has been good. They wanted to give me plenty of time and support to find my feet. I am a big fan of the organization, especially their focus on compassion and responsible growth.

Cons

The process hasn't been perfect. I have a unique role, so there have been bumps. But, management has been very understanding and supportive.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We understand the challenging demands in the veterinary profession and are committed to developing and maintaining a culture of wellbeing in our hospital. We are aware that our teams continue to be challenged by the increased workload that the past few years have brought and continue our focus on internal training opportunities along with strategic recruiting to attract the best and most skilled talent in our field. Providing the top patient care for all of our patients will always be a top priority for our organization. Cultivating an environment of compassion and empathy is what we strive for. We want to ensure our teams can navigate the challenging emergency and specialty veterinary medicine space and encourage employees to make their mental and physical health a priority. Resources available to employees include mental wellbeing apps, our Employee Assistance Program, and the creation of a well-being room. Utilizing PTO is always encouraged to help team members reset and recharge. Our local and regional leadership are here to support all caregivers and we welcome feedback. We encourage any concerned team members to reach out to their local HR Partner, Clinical Manager or Hospital Director for further discussion. We appreciate feedback as it helps us innovate and improve.
