Pros

Amazing exposure to diverse cases and cutting edge medicine.

Cons

Doctors here are overworked, undervalued and, quite frankly, some of the most miserable, unhappy people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Work life balance is a myth. Micromanagement occurs in every level of the job. There are expectations of availability even when you're 'off'. Management bullies doctors. There is blatant favoritism. Successfully performing in this work environment should be accompanied by anti - anxiety and anti- depression medication followed by routine therapy.

On Behalf of Medical Director: We are very sorry to hear this response. It is our goal at the New Orleans hospital to foster a positive, collaborative environment. In the event that someone does not feel these benefits or needs additional support, our local management is always available and interested in understanding these issues and working on a resolution. We take our team member satisfaction and engagement very seriously. We work hard to ensure our team members are healthy and happy and are always looking for new and better ways we can improve this experience. Over the past couple of years, we have focused significantly on enhancing our Employee Experience, which has been in large part an initiative around doctor wellbeing, work-life integration and supporting individual career goals. Similarly, we have been focusing on stress management and wellbeing initiatives such as offering free subscriptions to mental wellbeing apps, a wellbeing room, along with our Employee Assistance Program with easy access to resources and more. We hope this will continue to support and promote healthy ways of dealing with stress so everyone can be the best version of themselves when they are doing what they love. We will continue prioritizing our Employee Experience and take patient care feedback seriously. We appreciate you sharing your voice. We would love to discuss your concerns and suggestions for improvement, so please feel free to reach out via email, phone call, teams message or text message.

Pros

The Pets Hard working co-workers Unlike some of the other reviews, I think the company as a whole is making efforts in the right direction towards a better employee experience. It’s slow going but no one can expect changes overnight. I have worked in two different departments in past several years and feel that my second department does work well as a team for the most part. I really enjoy my job and am proud of working for MedVet. They do have animal benefits and allow employees to carry a balance & make payments. Pet Bereavement Day-Not all companies offer that.

Cons

Not to say that MedVet is without it’s faults but no company is perfect and whoever thinks they can find the perfect job/company without any factors they might like to change, well they are just being naive. Lower cost for employee pet care would be really appreciated but since it is a bigger company I’m not sure of the financial restrictions they may have, that’s not my area of the company. Some of their management training should be a bit more extensive. Not as many years experience between PTO increases would be really nice! Voices were not really listened to concerning the new clinic spaces. Room was not left for future expansions.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review. And yes, we are trying! On the employee pet discount, we have limitations to what we can do and that is governed by the IRS, unfortunately. We are really early on in our leadership development and management training journey, so you will see more coming in the future. I'm sorry to hear about the new clinic space. I know that there always trade-offs, and if you have specific feedback, send me a note and I can get you connected with the right folks. And just a personal call out to the great folks at the Columbus hospital who recently save my dog, Millie, who was experiencing pretty serious liver toxicity. Since she had to be hospitalized for two days, I was very grateful for the employee discount and the payment plans, even if it would've been nice if the IRS let us give a bigger discount.

Pros

Co workers and doctors are great and willing to help you learn. You learn a lot about animals and animal care.

Cons

Don't trust management. They are not there for you. They are lying snakes and will turn on you in a snap. They claim to listen but they don't. As soon as they make a decision they do not care what you say.
