Pros

Medcor is a great company for many reasons. Even though they are a fairly large company they still treat each team member as family, though I am leaving to pursue a new career I still feel as I am part of the family. It is the kind of place where a field employee can comfortably have a conversation with the COO Ben Petersen or the CEO Philip Seeger . Not many companies this large, will you see such relationships. If you have ever seen the TV show Undercover Boss and the employees are always so surprised to find out they were working with the CEO or Vice Pres of the company. That always made me laugh, Medcor could never pull off the whole Undercover Boss thing. Both the CEO and COO are out in the field often visiting the onsite clinics I think they have a true understanding of what it takes for us to be successful because they do get out to see how things are running and they make themselves approachable. Medcor is an ever growing company in an ever changing industry. I have always been proud to be a part of this team, knowing they hire the best people; they pay them a good wage and always try to give them the tools to succeed. People that were not familiar with Medcor would always ask me who our biggest competitor is, so they could somehow reference us to someone else. My answer was always the same, there is no other company that does all that we do, or holds the standard we set for ourselves and our company. So I feel we really don’t have a direct competitor. If you are a Good EMT, Paramedic, Nurse, or other medical professional and you are looking for an exciting career with a great company then you should take a look at making Medcor your home.

Cons

I hate to say there is really any downside to working with Medcor. But I will say depending on which division you work for there could be a lot of travel involved. I personally considered that a plus but it does tend to weigh on a family life. In the 6 years I worked for Medcor I was on 7 different job sites. Medcor has many remote locations so you need to be a type of person that can function in any environment. But I will add Medcor is pretty successful at putting the right person in the right position.
