Share holders over employees

Pros

The NetIQ products are great, especially around complex provisioning / de-provisioning and governance. Strong Regional Sales Directors and VP of Sales in North America.

Cons

Since NetIQ was acquired by Micro Focus the focus is purely on shareholder return rather than keeping, retaining and developing it's employees, investing in technology and marketing it's brand. Micro Focus may make money for it's investors but at the expense of running a "growth" company like NetIQ into the ground.

Former Novell is dying shockingly fast

Pros

There are still some good people there

Cons

The MicroFocus strategy is to grow by acquisition. All the Novell products are dying at a shocking rate because there is, and has not been for so many years, any growth in any of the product lines, any innovation, or any step into the modern world of software development and delivery. If you want a modern company that is doing interesting and challenging things, this is not the place.

Pros

Very little to speak highly about

Cons

Micro Focus is very good at acquiring companies then ripping the heart out of its employees and disrespecting their customers. They spend 2 days annually laying off good people because they need to shrink the bottom line. Then they spend 6-8 months on a hiring frenzy only to let the majority of the go come the end of the fiscal year. They are a 30+ year old company with old ways of working with their employees. They have no loyalty to customers.
