      Where’s the innovation strategy?

      Pros

      Sales compensation is above average. Commission components and rates streamlined this FY. The logo looks alright. Remote office (work from home.)

      Cons

      Growth strategy does not align with customer trends and innovation. Pipeline and transactions are the focus. Heritage MF’s focus on audits are a key part of strategy. Back office operations are broken and wrought with bureaucracy. Micro Focus doesn’t care about building a better mousetrap, they just want to find new ways to make money out of the ones they are selling.

      Great people, tough management

      Pros

      Great coworkers, friendly work environment. Work-life balance was good most of the time, although this depended somewhat on one's particular manager.

      Cons

      The company, dating from Novell/WordPerfect days, was unstable. There was always a fear of layoffs, and an inability to come up with great, new, breakthrough products. More hierarchy and red tape than you would imagine for a software company.

      Pros

      Flexibility, family friendly, cafe and gym on campus (which even did my gym laundry weekly) some of the best most insightful rock solid products!

      Cons

      Can't sell products at all, company lacks clarity and vision for products and market, poor product management, misguided power-blind managers, and out of date developers, most of the best have left.
