* Break out of the classic AEC company roles. * Huge opportunities to learn new things if you are motivated. * Some smart people to work with and learn from if you can find them.

Cons

*Expect to have to battle for even a small raise *You need to be borderline annoying and pushy to do anything interesting in the company otherwise you will most likely end up a full time CAD designer regardless of your skill. *You can suddenly become managed by someone without a clue of what's going on simply because they play office politics more than you. *Management can become overly involved in small details of projects even though they haven't touched a CAD program in 25 years.

Pros

I learned a lot during my time at Microdesk. I felt I was able to have impact on the operations and administrative side of the business. The people are great and there is a lot of collaboration. The work environment is flexible. Overall, it is a good place to work.

Cons

Limited career growth, though I think has changed since being acquired. I worked a lot of long hours while here, especially during peak times. Most of this is as expected with the role but as the company has continued to grow, the administrative teams have not.
