Pros

Competitive pay Comfortable, low stress job You work with some really great people. I made amazing friends working here over the course of 3 years. Profit Sharing, good benefits

Cons

Some of the customers could be really tough. Some management was not good at communication. I received a promotion at one point without being told. Tough to move up. Man's club; those that weren't into the sport were sometimes left out.

Pros

-- The pay is above average for the area. -- Work attire is casual (depends on your dept). -- Free bananas and apples in the break rooms. -- Super clean facilities. -- Health insurance is very good as long as you stay in network. -- This job made me open my eyes to what defines a good job. This wasn't it.

Cons

-- The employees are not welcoming to newcomers. -- They will dock you for being even a few minutes late. You are on a point system like at a FACTORY (keep reading and you'll sense a pattern). -- Feels too much like a factory. -- If you've been there a year then you're above most in seniority (that should tell you something). -- Predominately a much younger staff (most are right out of college). If you are older and have a family then you'll probably not fit in. -- They speak about "Respect" in all their values; however, the entire time I was there I didn't feel respected at all. There were several in my department who you could sense couldn't stand being around me. It was a very weird environment. -- You have to be an NRA member to get any discounts and to expect any professional growth potential. -- During orientation, the owner only wanted to make snide comments about the Democratic party. -- During my time I often heard employees making disparaging remarks against President Obama, gays, Asians, non-gun lovers, and anyone not drinking the same Kool-Aid as them. -- Employees can bring in their personal firearms and they can play with them during breaks (this seems like a serious OSHA violation). I always half expected one to go off and end up killing or injuring someone. -- The company is ran so tight (everything is based on processes) that the human element doesn't exist. They have steps you must follow for everything. You even have to follow steps to define if something is done or not, and you will be asked if your "done" follows these steps exactly. -- In some departments you have zero personal space. Some of the departments work on an open-office plan and you really won't have your own workspace (not even your own waste basket or drawers). One day I came in and people were on my usual computer so I had to move to the next available one. I've been in the job force now for over 15 years and this is a first for me. I couldn't get used to it. -- I lacked camaraderie. I never felt like part of the group. If you're not accepted by the group right away then you'll always be an outsider and you won't have a good future within the company. -- You are treated as a number (this goes back to feeling like a factory). -- There is no flexibility in way of telecommuting even though many of the jobs would be easy to do at home. -- The president of the company is egotistical and you can sense it. -- The owner of the company is egotistical (but he makes over $1 million in sales per day so he has a right, I guess). -- Plan to be given drug tests a lot. And I mean a lot. During my time (2 years), I was given seven drug tests, and I don't use drugs, nor do I have a reason to be drug tested so much. They say that it's just the luck of the lottery. -- They are always recruiting new people. Again, it just becomes a "you are a number." -- They had a survey to gauge employee satisfaction. It came back very low and negative. The leadership then began saying that the survey really doesn't tell that much and there could be so many factors affecting the numbers that they have no control over. Uh... yeah, right...

Pros

Great pay. They pay is in the the 75% for your experience and job skill. You will be getting the best pay you can in the Columbia, MO area. Process oriented culture.

Cons

The best way I can describe it - everyone is treated like a blue collar employee even the best software engineer. There is zero flexibility on lunch hour or work hours. Your lunch will be 12 pm to 1 pm. If you like to work out at lunch time and take a 1.5 hour lunch and work until 6 pm, too bad, it's not happening. Your work hours will 8 am to 5 pm. No exceptions. If a parent gets sick or our kid needs to come home from school, you'd better have your PTO build up and have a understanding manager. You're not going to work from home or outside "normal" work hours. Mostly a pro, but the process oriented culture can be a bit much at times.
