Employees come first, until they don't. "Let go" right before the Holidays and the annual bonus, without any warning or communication. Have someone give their all and produce for 11 months, just to be let go so they cannot be qualified to receive any production based equity. That is very Sketchy in practice. I do not think that is how you treat an employee that produced every single day and was loved by everyone in the company. This really needs to be discussed, for current and future employees. It certainly does not coincide with "Employee Values," that has always been preached.
