Pros

Benefits are outstanding and the opportunity to travel was like no other..

Cons

They will use you up until you cannot take it any longer. Long deployments of 4 months and having to complete updates on cert and licenses while on off time can be cumbersome.

Pros

Travel is a must. Most of the jobs are on ship and you get to pull into many different ports. There is always a lot of work to do in the Engineering department so you can never really get bored so long as you are motivated.

Cons

There is a lot of time away from home. Even though you are traveling a lot, it is rare to get any time off. A day off is not working overtime unless you can find someone to cover your shift and get approval.
