Pros
The people who do the day to day running of things continue to be wonderful
Cons
You may think because of the timing of things, that this was driven by the pity city explosion. That was really just the cherry on top. - 4 massive rounds of layoffs in three years (only one of which was related to COVID) - Only one person in my direct up line has any experience doing the job of my department at this or any other company (not my boss’s boss, my boss’s boss’s boss, or my boss’ boss’ boss’ boss). - Benefits cut - Usually fiscally conservative Herman Miller went and took a bet that COVID would end in 2021 and bought a billion dollar direct competitor. - Spinning down core parts of our business that made Herman Miller and Knoll famous for new, untested parts of the business. - Nonexistent culture. It’s not Herman Miller’s, it’s not Knoll’s, it doesn’t exist. Could be because of the high turnover of the people who have worked 10, 15, 20+ years at both companies with nothing to fill the void.
