Pros

Good work/life balance for employees.

Cons

A lot of long term employees who do no embrace up to date technology. Do not offer standard engineering vacation schedule of 3 weeks (only offer 2 weeks). Mitchell has a bad reputation among head hunters - this needs to be improved.

Pros

It's well established and seems to pay fairly competitive wages from what I've seen. They do seem to really make an effort to recognize employees for their service. There are some really great people that work there (and quite a few tools).

Cons

Incompetence often goes unnoticed and almost always goes unpunished. There seem to be a lot of "lifers" at Mitchell and the culture has a tendency to be slow to change. The outsourcing of development and lack of adherence to coding standards has led to some pretty crappy and confused implementations. Mitchell loves to have meetings for the sake of having meetings (I'm looking at you "DOR").

Easy to stay safe, but the competently ambitious need not apply

Pros

Mitchell is not a sweatshop. A great place to work for reasonably competent folks who are looking for a secure place to work while they raise kids. Most colleagues are courteous, earnest, hard working folks with the occasional bad apple.

Cons

No so great for entry level. Lip service paid to innovation and creativity. Almost impossible to get anything done without creating a 'process' first. Many of the 'problem' employees are well known to management but there is always an excuse not to deal with the problem.
