Pros

This agency was once great. You might think that the negative reviews you see on here are just bitter disgruntled ex-employees, let me assure you, these reviews are merited. Beyond the layoffs, there is an exodus from this company that I've never seen before professionally. The holding company's (S4 capital) visions of grandeur have derailed the agency culture and the business overall. They prioritize profits over people. For example, there have been rolling layoffs in the US without communication from leadership of when they will happen, or if they are finished. They've outsourced work to satellite offices where resources are much cheaper and often lower quality in their output, all for the sake of maximizing margins. It's a mess. So what are the pros? - Pockets of talented people, though they are becoming increasingly scarce - Benefits -- but is this really why you want to work somewhere?

Cons

- Long hours, resources that are over-allocated - Scattered resources of varying talent, most speak English as their second language - Since teams are global, time zone issues are a big problem - Everything is remote, and most teams are all in different locations. So there is a complete lack of camaraderie - Each capability is actually a different agency that has been acquired and has completely different processes. The promised integration under one system is "on-going" but in reality a complete pipe dream and a failed experiment.

Pros

I have been here for a long time. XX was truly something special, and then the CEO sold us all out to get the bag. There are no more pros honestly, it's ALL bad right now.

Cons

Leadership is awful, making false promises over and over again. The CEO is terrible, and he sold all of us out. Pay raises and promotions have been frozen for 2 years now. We lost workers and weren't able to backhire, so the rest of us had to take on extra responsibilities with no extra pay. Stretched thin is an enormous understatement. We were working 8 or 9 big clients at a time, working from 7am to 11pm almost every day with NO EXTRA PAY. We were explicitly promised, in writing, bonuses, raises, and promotions over a year ago, and then leadership broke those promises. They kept stalling and we eventually came to the conclusion that we're not getting anything. So all the best people at XX that made the place special left. I want to add some detail here too. Our team was making a 400% profit and they refused to pay us any more after making the explicit promises. The salaries were far below industry standards and we were all working much higher jobs than our official titles. My direct manager told me I was doing Senior Manager level work for over a year, and I was still getting paid close to a coordinator's salary. I was dealing with multi million dollar accounts, almost by myself. Media.Monks and XX leadership should be ashamed.

Pros

Okay benefits, because you’ll need it.

Cons

This company has had 2 profit warnings over the past 2 years, and after dealing with management I know precisely why. Simply put, they don’t know what they’re doing, so the work, culture, and individual people have suffered. Take the work, the work has suffered because this company is a disorganized mess, the one single P&L statement is a lie. They have separate systems for separate teams on separate accounts. All of whom are competing against one another. Integration has made progress, but it hasn’t been quick enough. Especially given that it's been almost 4 years. The chaos has created a fractious and toxic culture with some teams looking more like battle royales as opposed to cohesive units. Disrespect goes unchecked from the higher ups and in the end, the output suffers with accounts dropping or complaining about the work. This puts an immense amount of pressure on the individual employees who are stretched thin. And when they aren’t at capacity with a messed up system they are leaving or being fired for telling management about the issues. To be perfectly honest it wouldn’t surprise me if they sold the company. The future for Media.Monks does not look good, I would say it looks bleak. Don’t believe me take a look at the news about this place.
