Pros

Competitive salary and bonus and ok benefits. Some great programs and processes in place, but they're not being fully utilized.

Cons

The transformation occurring at the top has not transcended into the field. Processes and programs have been created across business segments, but local management views these changes as extra work. Poor change management has resulted in lack of support for these programs. Buildings are in disrepair, practically falling down - workplace safety is poor, and the company should be ashamed. Passion for the brand is not seen or lived throughout the operation. Funds are not contributed to building upkeep, so you wouldn't expect money spent on branding to honor "the girl" in the field either. Poor management - the company is not hiring talent or strong leaders with LSS/process improvement skill set to help turn the company around. Management teams are not held accountable for employee engagement or development which has resulted in very low morale.

Pros

It's a well known company that's been around for over 150 years.

Cons

The current parent company is slashing benefits and closing plants left and right. It is no longer a "family" atmosphere.

Thank you for your feedback. In order to stay competitive and maximize efficiencies, it was necessary to modernize our benefits programs and look closely at our operations across the country. We’re confident our programs meet or exceed the industry standard across the board and we’ve invested in all-new programs including the Well-Being Programs, Virgin Pulse and other health related benefits. As far as our operations, while it’s true we have closed facilities, we’re making immediate and significant investments in other places that will benefit the long-term health of our company and its employees. Lastly, the culture at Morton Salt is currently undergoing significant changes for the betterment of our workforce and the reason for that is we’re listening to you through surveys and feedback from your managers. Please continue to share your thoughts – we’re listening. Human Resources
