Pros

I loved working for MudBay. I spent three years working both full and part time when I went back to school. I loved (still love) the people I worked with and felt valued as an employee. I've worked other retail jobs and MudBay is hands down the best I've ever been treated. The discount is significant and there is opportunity to try possible new products which Mudbay pays for (months if free food? Yes please!). There is a lot of opportunity for learning and becoming truly know legible about the products and how to recommend the best stuff for pets. And Mudstock! Mudstock is awesome. Close every store for a day to get everyone together for essentially mudbays version of a boyscout jamboree.

Cons

It's retail. There are cranky customers, and there is working over holidays and on weekends. sometuned there are tons of hours available for everyone to work near full-time, and sometimes there's just not. I do wish the freezer situation was better when I was there. Having them break down all the time really sucked. I feel like sometimes day-to-day things that would improve the store got lost in favor of the grand vision.

Pros

Most of the other staff are incredible people Sales reps will sometimes come by and do trainings The customers can be amazing and you get to meet animals all day long Great discount on product, ok discount on food

Cons

There are no benefits unless you are a lead. They will often hire management from outside than allow growth from within. The company is quickly steering away from being a workplace of educated staff and more about pushing product. Ever since their educator quit there are no more educational trainings. When employees have gone to management to talk about their frustration with the company's changes the response that they are given is "if your not happy with the direction Mud Bay is headed then you can always quit", and then are fired afterward for not being excited enough about the company. the company is growing too fast and the careless growing is causing many problems.
