Decent pay bad company

Pros

- Decent pay For a store associate they will pay you what you would expect at most retail jobs, starting at $15/hr. - Easy work Depending on your manager you can have very little expected of you or way too much expected of you. If you get an easy manager you can basically do nothing.

Cons

- Racist management Company has an issue with systemic racism that it refuses to combat. Noone is openly racist but most of the company is white and new hires tend to be white as well. Have literally been told that we are not allowed to remove customers from store who use racial or homophobic slurs against you or a coworker. - Few career opportunites Starting in a lower position basically guarantees you stay at that position unless you get lucky with a manager liking you. It is basically all based on opinion vs work done. Only real career path is Store Staff->Lead->Manager, good luck getting a position at the home office when starting in stores. - Poor management and poor communication of company goals. - Poor culture "We are a family" is used to get you to do more work for less pay and to care more about the company than should be expected of a low level associate. Do not let them bully you. - Getting shifts covered can be hard There is little incentive to cover others shifts and getting a shift covered is all on the employee unless you call out sick (even then you are often expected to get your own shift covered while bedridden). Overall decent place to work if you are younger and in school but horrible place if you are older (mid 20's+) and looking for a longer term career. Customers and pets are a plus, but as always customers are often a negative as well depending on luck of the draw.
