Pros

- customer interactions and getting to see dogs and cats all day is of course very nice - staff discount is great - fellow employees are great

Cons

- employees are looking to unionize due to lack of care and consideration from company, and Mud Bay is (allegedly) seemingly making an effort to prevent this from occurring - complete and total lack of communication between staff and upper management + those working in home office - very demotivating environment after hour cuts and staff cuts, but still expected to deliver “mudbay experience” to all customers - constant staffing issues, so many people left due to hour cuts and continued lack of support that now they are scrambling and employees are forced to work with absolute bare minimum staff on the floor often - I don’t think there’s a single person I’ve spoken to that isn’t burnt out and exhausted

Pros

Dogs, discount on pet supplies

Cons

The company is losing money. They are dealing with this by cutting hours. The owners are millionaires and since their company isn't making a profit (after over-expanding across the region) they are forcing a pay-cut for the lowest level staff. You will never have a quality work-life balance. Morale is down across the board. I don't think they will be able to find staffing to keep all locations open. I think the owners and upper management aren't aware of the power the internet has when it comes to finding future staffing. The PTO plan and pay are not competitive.

Pros

Petting and interacting with animals that come into the store

Cons

They do not protect their employees, "Customer is always right attitude," overworked, exhausted, rascism, putting employees at risk during Covid and dangerous weather events, does not give liveable wage, gaslights employees, reprimands those who speak out against toxicity, gaslights customers acting like Mud Bay is great and employees are happy. Too much changing of management.
