Pros

Great health benefits, great discounts and get to help dog and cat owners.

Cons

They say that everyone at Mud Zaby is valued but as a store manager you are not. Training and development is not valued or seen as a high priority. They have a great training program, however the District Managers don’t make this a priority. Mud bay is becoming like any other big box store and it feels as if they don’t care about the importance of knowledge for their teams. When I came to Mud Bay 5 yrs ago they talked about and taught the value of customer service. It now feels like any other retail store that sells something. Yes your teams say hello to customers but that’s the end of it. There is no more of a feeling of a small local establishment. It’s disappointing to see this slip away for them. They focus on building someone who can manage a store but they don’t build leaders. The way to do well at Mud Bay is yo be a yes man and give everything to your team. Make them happy even if it is detrimental to your business and to your Managers.

Some Give and Take

Pros

Education to improve the lives of our furry friends. Meet lots of like-minded individuals. Get to see and play with customer's pets. Most leadership seem to care about individuals' wellness.

Cons

Acts too much "in the grey". Some things should be black and white when operating a business this large. Flexibility is good to a point. Benefits are extortionate. Doesn't contribute anything to 401K Supported BLM at the beginning, then made all stores take BLM signs down as it was too politicized.

Pros

Marisa and Lars are fantastic people and have built a really cool company. Culture is super important and there are lots of opportunities to grow.

Cons

Starting out in management can be a bit rough, as it can be really difficult to navigate through existing relationships/politics.
