Pros

You do get discounts on music gear, if you just so happen to play an instrument. Even then, the discounts are not that great really.

Cons

I have worked at the KCDC for a year now and have had the privilege of working with some of the nicest co-workers out of any job I have ever had. The same cannot be said with supervisors on up to the higher ups in management unfortunately. Most of the management, with the exception of a very small chosen few, are number crunching, micro managing control freaks that are just in it for themselves and don't care at all about the associates on their "team". It is literally the same thing at every morning start up meeting, that is we get to hear our "goal" for the day because here at MF its all about the NUMBERS. At each monthly "Jam Session", formerly known as Town Hall Meetings, we get to hear why we suck, how we suck and what we can do to suck less number-wise. I stopped caring about the number side of things a long time ago because in my mind what does some made up number goal have to do with my PHYSICAL JOB anyways right? And if we just so happen to make the goal for the month, we get the honor and privilege of having in house staff cook our team a usually inedible meal for lunch in which case I still bring my lunch on those days, not just out of defiance but because I don't feel like having to spend the rest of the shift in the bathroom. How some of those men and women became supervisors and ops managers is still beyond me because it definitely was not because of their people and management skills. I was told there was room for advancement in the company but I honestly just don't see it unless you are a control freak with an associate’s degree. Someone once told me that "everyone is replaceable" and this must be their philosophy at the company. Since I have been there, there have been numerous people that have pointed out, quit and went on to find a better job or have gotten fired over stuff that a kid might get in trouble for in kindergarten. Their mindset is "If they don't like all of the rules, regulations and procedures, then there's the door." I have joked around to my coworkers telling them that "if they keep this up and run all of their good workers off, they will have to start hiring illegals because they are the only ones that will put up with all the nonsense that goes on here for so little of pay." Some of the people I have talked to there have been there since the old building location and they have told me time and time again how good of a place it used to be with the old owner/management and I believe them. They have literally taken away all of the humanity out of the place/job in the hopes hitting some ridiculous number goal that on our end there is no reward for so why bother right? The best thing to happen in my mind would be to have some higher up somewhere come in and clean house with management in the attempts to get rid of the already extremely hostile environment there. But since it is text book corporate America going on here I don't expect anything to change anytime soon. So as a coworker that has been there for many years has told me so many times in the past year since I have started, GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN! P.S. This is exactly how this place is ran and operated, this is not just me ranting about the job.

Pros

Discounts on music equipment and no drug tests. Everything a serious musician cares about right? I guess if you're alright with being treated like a disposable farm animal.

Cons

Where do I start? They admit that their employees are disposable to them. Management is very unprofessional and sexual harassment is encouraged towards women. The people that have decided to keep working there are completely alright with sucking corporate rooster to keep their jobs. The team leaders are more concerned about covering their own butts than managing their team and coaching them on how to do better. If something goes wrong, management is never accountable for it, they would rather throw one of their sales/customer service representatives under the bus to save their jobs. They have and will continue to find ways to keep lowering their commission scales so they can keep getting ripped off by customers while living on the edge of going out of business. The moral of the story is, if you want to work at a place that cares about their employees, keep looking.
