Amazing People, Disastrous Management

Pros

1) the people you work with at MF are the most amazing, sincere, fun people. I made some lifelong friends at MF...and so many people I admire. Never have I worked with such great teams! 2) Perks! If you are a musician, you couldn't work anywhere better. Live music, discounted gear, gear auctions, and so many perks make this a musician's paradise.

Cons

1) the management. Once Bain bought the company, everything became about money. Perks were cut, stress was increased, and I was asked to do some pretty unethical things to make a quick buck. Upper management cares only for themselves and talent is interchangeable and unvalued. Be prepared to fight for your job every week. 2) multiple brands all competing with each other is horrible. Brand infighting completely destroys promotions and marketing efforts. It's sad.

Pros

Back when Musicians Friend was Musicians Friend it was a great place to work, customer, family and employee appreciated. Really enjoyed job and wanted to make a career there.

Cons

Guitar Center took over and it became a corporate Hell. Dedicated employees are treated like dirt unless they throw fellow employees under the bus. HR is a bunch of fashion queens, general manager does not fight for what is right in order to keep current position.
