Pros

Great people and amazing patient products. Coworkers are willing to help and teach you the fundamentals. Health benefits can be good, however monthly premiums have increased without providing better care. Some departments have flexibility with hours.

Cons

The company will not value you. Your coworkers will do a better job at that. It is really hard to grow there. Some departments have to pick up the slack for other departments by doing another employee’s responsibilities. The pay is low and some departments don’t allow for room for growth.

Pros

Respected as the "Grandaddy" of hereditary cancer genetic laboratories. Products are top quality in any niche. Training is excellent. Work / Life balance was valued. Incentives and commissions can be significant.

Cons

Salaries continue to be substandard compared to other oncology opportunities. High level performers can compensate with generous bonuses to some degree. The novelty is gone and competition is high since 2013 Supreme Court decision on BRCA testing. Some providers feel hostility toward Myriad for their handling of genetic counselors as part of the process and their unwillingness to open their data bank. This can inhibit sales but regardless, as an entry to diagnostics I would do it all over again. It's a good company.

Pros

I like my coworkers very much. They are good people and very good at their jobs. Company takes care of their sales people. Expectations of them are usually unrealistic but they continue work and perform well. 12 paid holidays, decent benefits (better than average).

Cons

Management is losing touch with employees. They have many good employees that have been promoted beyond their competency. Company is becoming more and more sales focused. It used to be a very employee friendly environment but that has changed a great deal in the eight years I have worked here.
