Pros

Serve the military directly, get to work on special projects that impact the world you live in. The military appreciates the work the civilians do.

Cons

Less pay because your a federal employee, it’s very difficult to live in DC if your single. Also nepotism is an issue I’ve heard and seen firsthand. The procedures are not documented well so it is hard to get the work done.

Pros

Federal pension is better than private sector options.

Cons

Company culture is abusive. Coworkers who told me to go on anti-anxiety medication to "think like a man" to stay employed at a place filled with men and too much work to perform in unrealistic required timelines.
