Pros

Great market, great hardware product, nice work life balance, good people. The team is growing fast and the quality of engineers is good!

Cons

Office space needs improvement. A bit far from HQ. Since the team is growing fast things can be a bit hectic. Also, software processes and tools are in the process of being overhauled and greatly modernized, but the transition is currently happening.

Pros

Great products. Action oriented. Team oriented. High pace. Quick alignment on resources top / down on critical projects after approval.

Cons

Not always visionary on business side to look at opportunity to enhance process (not product side) even though IT team is strong.

Pros

I’ve worked at several big named companies in the Bay Area and am pleased to have found a long term stay at NETGEAR. Politics? None. Working outside of my comfort zone? Yup. Learning everyday through challenges, mistakes, and successes? You bet! It amazes me at how passionate the management and Executive teams are (especially in Marketing, IT, and Product Management) – they thrive in fast-paced and extremely competitive environments. I’ve never worked at a company where the Marketing leadership team actually works HARDER than I do, and I’m a pretty diligent worker – always been the hardest worker at other companies. Especially in Marketing, this pushes everyone to be on their A+ game at all times. I have to admit, sometimes it does get stressful and at times I am outside of my comfort zone, but isn’t that the point of work? Work should be fun, exciting, yet challenging and crazy! It keeps things fresh! Keeps me learning! If you’re looking for a place to grow in your career, work in a fast-paced environment, and work with/for people who actually care about you and their work, then NETGEAR is the place for you. The diversity of the teams create an environment where everyone's voice is heard regardless of experience level, upbringing, etc. Nothing is sugar coated, nothing is given, but for me, that’s awesome and why I look forward to growing my career at NETGEAR. I’ve learned more these past few years at NETGEAR than I have in my 13+ year career.

Cons

NETGEAR is not a one-size fits all work environment. The Executive team challenges each individual to succeed and to some that is uncomfortable and maybe frightening. Every employee contributes to the success of NETGEAR, which could be nerve-wracking that your work could actually impact the stock price, but the management team is there to help as long as you’re communicative. Do not get me wrong, it does get stressful and it is a challenging place to work, but that’s because NETGEAR is in the market to compete. Their success has been built on innovation – heck they may have invented the word innovate – and for those who struggle with how to bring that level of work to their day-to-day, it may be dificult. But, my advice is to be communicative with your management team before you get too stressed, so they can help pave the right path. This has worked out for me – constant communication and openness from the beginning clears the air.

Pros

I had the pleasure of working with some great people while I worked at NETGEAR, bagel day, IT support team.

Cons

I wanted to give myself some time to write a thoughtful response to my experience while at NETGEAR. Well, the time has passed and I still feel all of the strong themes mentioned here hold weight in my decision to exit stage left. My experience was sitting in a meeting and feeling like the smartest person in the room. Not good. The leadership felt like they were making things up as they went and most of the ideas produced were just throwing spaghetti at the wall and then scrambling to make it right when something went sideways. A total mess. Most employees were overwhelmed because they frankly had too much to do. Teams run very lean and most people are expected to do the work of 2-3 people. While this was a great experience to know what I didn't want in my next role, it proved to be a stressful experience for me and those around me. Not a ton of process, deadlines were non-existent and went more like "OMG we forgot to do X, EVERYONE SPRINT", really messy. I was underutilized and it felt like the person I reported into was keeping down rather than pulling me up. Not great leadership and definitely not a place to get that valuable mentorship from a senior employee. (1) there wasn't the time and (2) the department I was in didn't have a program in place. NETGEAR felt like the stepping for leadership folks that were on the connector train to their next lily pad. It became very clear that there wasn't a lot of thought or time put into retaining people or asking employees what they wanted out of X role or X project they were tasked to focus on. Absolutely no time to enjoy with your fellow employees at work and leaving your desk riddled you with guilt. Not a lot of MBA folks or the like so going back to school leaves peoples faces scrunched up and passive aggressive when you mention you can't take a 5PM meeting because you have to head to class that evening. They didn't get it. Over time, I received less and less support to further my education because it was perceived that if I wasn't at my desk for the last 30 minutes of a work day, I wasn't doing my job. Very disappointing. Would not recommend.
