Truth about NIBCO

Pros

There are experienced people writing these reviews to warn prospective employees "associates" that NIBCO is a toxic work environment. Any positive review has most likely come from The CPO or someone on her HR staff. Ex-employees are standing up to CPO's unethical behavior and law suits are piling up.

Cons

The CPO is the obvious con. An absolute disgrace of a leader and human being; complete lack of ethics and morals, not to mention business knowledge.

Pros

Gone are the pros since Alice has taken over the kingdom.

Cons

If you think for one minute that any positive comments (especially since December) have not come from Princess Alice and her dominion HR, you are sadly mistaken. Read all of the comments. One disgruntled employee wrote all of these? I hardly think so. I can tell you this: HR faked signatures. I know people who were fired for asking why they got screwed out their bonus, people who got fired because they spoke to the CEO, people who got fired because they asked legitimate questions on their bonuses, people who got fired for asking to have their names put in the hat for an advanced position, people who got fired merely due to the wrath of the not often sober CPO. Oh and let me not forget their attempts to drum up. falsify and right out lie to avoid paying hard working dedicated people unemployment compensation. You would have to be a horror writer to make this stuff up. IT IS HOWEVER SADLY TRUE!

Pros

It is a legacy brand in the building products industry with good products and a loyal customer following

Cons

I know it will be hard to believe, but most of what you are reading on here is unfortunately true. Normally, I would never think of posting on this site but I feel I have to voice my opinion to prevent others from making the same mistake I did to go work for this company. The company, the leadership and the human resources are completely dysfunctional right now. No matter what the job title, the CPO (Chief People Officer - owner's wife) runs the business including all aspects of sales, customer service, compensation and human resources. It is truly an egotistical power grab that even customers and others in the industry are beginning to take notice of. Just take a look at the number of job openings and how long they have been open on the company's website. She has been trying to fill a VP of Sales role for almost 3 years after firing the previous two that held that position. Senior managers who have been with the company for 25+ years have no say in who they hire/fire or select to be on their team...the CPO controls it all. This includes the board which continues to put out propaganda about how the company is hitting historic profitability, but yet the CPO will withhold merit increases and discount the bonus program to the employees carrying the business. All along you will hear their opinion that they take such good care of their employees, when unfortunately is not true as this is the most unethical company I have ever worked for. There is truly a "List" of favorable employees that receive preferential benefits (promotions, side bonuses, promotions, better company vehicles etc) and others are placed on the "blacklist" where you would be denied a merit increase, or any opportunity for advancement. The latest way to manage employees by fear has been to push a 25 page non-compete document that you must sign after you have already been working for the company for multiple years. There is no rhyme or reason to this process either as not all employees are required to sign one and there are different "offers" of the document floating around. Those that sign, do so by fear, coercion and have no desire to look for a new job. Those that do not are essentially discriminated against and do not receive merit increases, their bonus programs are altered to result in lower earning potential and they are blocked from even simply interviewing internally for an open position they are easily qualified for. These are some of the examples of items that would be borderline illegal and definitely unethical at a public corporation. From the sales organization perspective, everyone is disenchanted and simply going through the motions which is why the company has experienced stagnant sales growth over the past few years. Those that are happy are the select few who have drank the kool-aid or are just buying their time to retirement. I currently would not recommend anyone take a job with this company until the current regime is out of the business. The best thing that could happen would be for a large corporation to acquire the business and clean it up.
