Pros

Company has been in business for many years and customers have a high opinion of their insurance products. They train people who know nothing about insurance and give them a place to start their career. Co-workers are generally good people. Salary is decent, opportunities IF you are liked by your supervisor.

Cons

Maybe you read George Orwell's book "1984" where he described "Big Brother" watching at all times? That is what NJM is all about. Very restrictive policies including the "Bring Your Own Device" (they want you to give them YOUR phone for any type of investigation they feel like conducting at any time) and "Social Media Policy" (Any opinion you may gave about the company on Facebook or Twitter, etc. can get you fired), internet access if granted is highly monitored, phone calls are recorded and in some departments are picked apart as part of your review, cameras are everywhere! I mean who wants to work in that type of environment. Also, they are on this new cost cutting initiative -- fine I can see where that makes sense -- BUT, they are remodeling the hallways in the Trenton location and installing recessed lighting with fancy walls that look like display cases and marble shelves to display things (?) Honestly, is that necessary? Wouldn't the money be better spent on giving better raises to the employees that make you successful or on training your management people to interact more appropriately with those they supervise? It's not all bad however, there is a lot that could be better and even though they say they are trying to improve, it just doesn't seem to be happening. There are a few departments I would not recommend to anyone based on what I have heard and seen: PL Call Center, Auto Claims, Switchboard and HR. You might do ok if you get a job in Workers Comp, Medical Services or IT (depending on your supervisor). Your best bet is to look elsewhere first since there are a lot of employers in the area. Do the opposite of their new slogan and “DON’T Start Your NJM” if you don't like to be micromanaged.

Pros

401m with 8% matching, health insurance, on-site cafeteria, on-site nurses, company paid training

Cons

Administrative services department was partially located in a leased property a mile from the main campus. Employees there were neglected yet told they were a part of the team.
