Pros

Excellent news produced by smart, capable journalists and producers who are committed to providing well-rounded, sourced and researched pieces for air and online

Cons

-Poor internal communications. -Low morale. -Managers taking credit for work not their own. -Some in senior managers are so concerned about losing jobs, that they spend more time saying 'yes sir' than defending what is right.

Pros

Newsroom employees get the opportunity to work with some of the finest journalists in the world. Other departments take pride in meeting goals and producing a quality product.

Cons

Insular, often arrogant, environment. Senior managers do not reflect the diversity of NPR's audience; almost all are middle-aged (roughly 40 to 55 years old), white, relatively wealthy as compared to audience. Cut-throat competition, interdepartmental squabbles, star system.
