Pros

Great co-workers and variable daily tasks. The company is slowly improving ability to communicate with employees in other remote locations to help troubleshoot issues. Benefits are great - healthcare package is so-so but affordable and 4 weeks PTO (if your supervisor lets you take it).

Cons

Poor communication with headquarters in Boulder, CO to remote domains (Alaska - Puerto Rico). Quickly changing demands and expectations from field crews with little to no advanced notice. Every week is a surprise as to what crazy thing we'll be told to do. Sites are put online and people are hired BEFORE permitting even goes through - resulting in many seasonal and full-time techs getting 40 hours of reading protocols or twiddling their thumbs. Little to no standardized guidelines for remote domains on how to manage or organize field crews. No management training for full-time techs (they're just supposed to figure out how to be quality managers when many are fresh out of their BS degrees). No real regulation or standardization for Domain managers treatment of employees.

Pros

Great flexibility and work/life balance.

Cons

Lead by an executive team who doesn't care about anything other than their own professional gain. Terrible/Lack of processes which promote wasted spending and counter-productivity. Tons of employees who collect pay and seldom show up to work. Major lack of communication between and within departments. Employees are constantly getting fired, laid off or quitting. No job stability or opportunities for advancement.

Every department for themselves

Pros

Good benefits. Mostly great people with good intentions. Great cause.

Cons

NEON promotes people vs. getting rid of them fostering to an undesirable management structure. Leadership by intimidation vs. inspirational. Planning seems to be non-existent or not executed. Lack of cohesion across organization: NEON's structure is similar to that of a “silo” mentality, whereby each department focuses on its own interests, procedures, and people rather than cooperating with other groups to meet customer needs. This structural isolation may increase the efficiency of individual groups, but it ultimately detracts from the organization’s ability to meet customer commitments. ~American Society of Quality
