Pros
Generally interesting work. Wide variety of career paths and plenty of opportunity to move between different areas of business should you wish to. Although notably eroded over the last decade or so, pay and benefits are still competitive. Company has a commendably positive attitude toward health and safety.
Cons
The aforementioned gradual erosion of pay, benefits and conditions. Implementation of "performance related pay" has been a disaster; it's been (incorrectly) used as a penny-pinching tool rather than as an incentive. HR are becoming more and more aggressive in their practises. Latest initiative is "performance excellence", brought in at huge cost both in consultancy from Unipart and in working time diverted away from core tasks.
