Pros

Good benefits. Rarely work weekends/voluntary. Sometimes you actually get to feel like you make a difference.

Cons

Most of the directors practice crisis management. They are excellent at delegating their responsibilities, do the bare minimum, and wonder why there is discontent amoung their employees. They like to talk about an "open door policy", but crucify the employees that dare to say anything. The employees who actually care and go to HR...their concerns fall on deaf ears.

Pros

NJH does great things for people who suffer from respiratory illnesses.

Cons

If you are a fundraiser/development professional, STEER CLEAR of the development department at NJH. The development department has no idea what they are doing and their poisonous behavior spread like wild fire all the way down to the entire department. When something goes wrong, the development executives will blame their subordinates and then the subordinates will blame their subordinates. It’s a vicious cycle and the back stabbing is the worst I have ever seen here! To top that off, absolutely no strategy as to how to increase donors and money. So much money is wasted sending people all around the country on “cold” leads. Just such a lack of vision.

Pros

Full of dedicated, talented, intelligent, and hard-working staff. Cafeteria is wonderful.

Cons

Leadership in General: _ Does not instill trust. _ Some seem to care more about title and status than leading. _ Staff members are afraid to share honest opinions for fear of retaliation. _ New equipment or software takes staff away from regular job, and leaves remaining staff to take up the slack causing work flow issues and no time for additional projects. Leadership should take this into consideration instead of being judgmental and condescending. HR slow to response cripples progress, and at times unprofessional. Facility is dingy and outdated. Money is spent on TV commercials, but not on needed equipment.
