Work there if you must then plot your escape

Pros

You can be mostly sheltered from administrator nonsense if you work in a good department with a good director, otherwise, build your resume and get out!

Cons

Low pay, HR and admins dismissive of employee concerns, unethical HR practices, VPs only care about budget lines and have inability to think broadly and critically. VPs are narrow sighted and arrogant. People across the university are generally miserable and difficult to work with - no one wants to take ownership or responsibility. I imagine this review will generate the automatic HR response of "taking these comments seriously" and "regret the negative feelings", however, this shouldn't come as a surprise to them and nothing was done to address the concerns when it mattered.

Pros

Some of the people, especially some faculty and staff.

Cons

Management. Leadership style. Culture. Poor morale. Emphasis on "social justice" for students and the community does not seem to apply to employees of the institution. "Diversity" and "Inclusion" do not seem to include whites, women, non-LGBTQ, and/or those with conservative ideologies (political, religious, etc.).

While no institution or work environment is perfect we recognize that the NLU community and its educational philosophy are built on a high regard for the cultures, backgrounds, experiences and dignity of each person. Decent pay for Academic Advising

Cons

60% of the work is appeasing the higher-ups via reports and CONSTANT outreach to students, even if they are FINE. Followed by meetings where you are constantly asked to do more and held accountable for not doing the other stuff fast enough.
