Pros

The pay is competitive, you can make a decent salary if you negotiate well in the beginning. Being an adjuster gives you lots of freedom because you set your own schedule, as long as you are organized and get your work done you are golden. If you come prepared with some knowledge, they are willing to train you. Company car with perks.

Cons

Overwhelming workload, consistently short staffed, no work/home life balance, highly stressful and demanding. Managers don't manage, they supervise. Nationwide seems to be the grandfather of the insurance world, they are apprehensive about change, and once they are forced to change to adapt to technology, etc. they overhaul everything rapidly, at once and expect nothing less than perfection during the transition. Not very diverse when it comes to gender or race. They don't have their employees best interests at hand. It's nearly impossible to be spontaneous with vacation time and if you leave the company before 5 years, they don't cash out your vacation time or allow you to take it--they absorb it back into the company as if you did not earn it. They are very mechanical and stiff with it comes to their employees interests. It's hard to move around within the company unless you are willing to relocate.
