Pros

NONE! Everything is a lie.

Cons

screaming, yelling, cussing, temper tantrums - yes, this is the culture passed down from the Executive Leaders and expected to be followed by VP and Director level. If you're not making someone cry or threatening someone they'll be fired then you're not a "good leader". They have policies that say you can safely report, but when people do you don't see them again - because they are fired for "safely reporting". Lawsuit waiting to happen and Warren Buffett would be appalled if he was aware of what was going on. Behaviour is deplorable.

Pros

Some of the coworkers are nice and occasionally get a layover somewhere interesting. Great medical insurance.

Cons

Well below market pay. Brutal tours—multiple airlines, plane changes, crew changes, short layovers in some pretty poor hotels. Operations management is unethical and exhibits an astounding amount of favoritism. Department head unqualified. Dozens of quasi-managers (trainers) for a small work group. Current union leadership is ignorant of the contract and not trustworthy. Some extremely difficult customers. I only stay because I don’t want to start over in another field and I can hold 7 days on/off.

Pros

- Safety culture - People you'll work with - Home basing anywhere in the country - Medical benefits are completely covered by the company with affordable dental and vision plans

Cons

- Duty period is always longer than your rest with few exceptions; you'll still come home a zombie even on the 7/7 schedules. They basically just hand you as many trips as you can take until you say enough. 4 legs a day is not uncommon and you will see at least 5 once or twice a tour. Keep in mind all the extra stuff you'll have to do between flights; it's not like an airline job where all you do is fly. - Little opportunity to eat like a human during a normal day; you'll rarely get breakfast and usually it will be too late to eat dinner - Compensation/retirement doesn't come close to the rest of the market when compared to hours/days worked with extra responsibilities (cleaning toilets and vacuuming, stocking, customer service, loading bags, etc.) - Small aircraft are uncomfortable and cramped (not something you should do for 20+ years)
