Pros

One of the most prestigious newspaper companies in the world with a tremendous well of talent. The staff is incredibly dedicated to the mission and proud of their company. Creativity and team-work is very strong. There is also a strong culture of flexibility and work-life balance.

Cons

The Times, like many newspaper companies these days, is faced with a rapidly declining revenue base and high fixed costs. Unlike many other newspapers, the company has not been proactive in reducing inefficient practices and lacks a coherent strategy for the future. There have been too many mistakes made in the areas of systems, back-office consolidation and operations that have resulted in very costly distractions and management energy.

Pros

Recognition and prestige. Your work shown to millions of people daily (with your name in the byline!)

Cons

It's a lot of work. Sometimes weird hours, fast deadlines and not much vacation time.
