Pros

Benefits Salary is competitive Remote work culture Relax work culture

Cons

For non immigrants, it’s not a right place to work. They have stupid policy of filing GC after 4 years working at NYT. If they don’t change policy in next few months, I am planning to leave so as many people will leave. Higher employee churn rate. Lot of employees are leaving New York Times. Technology side of the group is low invested. As a result, they are still using technology stack which is 20 years old.

Pros

Self-organizing teams Interesting technical challenges A mission worth fighting for A sensible career ladder and room for growth 401k match Education stipend Nice office WFH friendly Family friendly

Cons

Sometimes manager/director levels lean too much on "self-organizing teams" and abdicate themselves of responsibility There's a desire to standardize things but also give engineering teams autonomy, it's frustrating being caught in the middle
