Pros

Reasonable pay, guaranteed 45+ hours a week, neutral work environment.

Cons

Constant turn over between technicians, management and office staff. Once you are on the radar you don't get off and can be let go at any moment without notice or opportunity to improve. Expectations are know exactly how to do your job within the first month or get out. When someone gets let go everyone else has to pick up the slack with no information on when a new dispatcher will get hired. Active managers will push everything off to dispatch position, therefore you are basically your own manager. Seems like a double edged sword when the only goal is to hire warm bodies constantly to fill the chairs then corporate will come around and say we need more experience personel and get rid of them all. Hence the revolving door analogy.

Pros

CMS is very much like a family, we may not always get along, but we always work it out. I began as a technician working my way up to an Area Service Manager position. I'm able to work with technicians to spread my knowledge and experience. As a technician, I was able to work as many hours as I wanted once I felt I was getting overloaded and asked for a break it was given. During the winter months, my hours never went below 35 a week and my Area Service Manager at the time watched to make sure all the technicians hours were distributed evenly. As an Area Service Manager, I now follow the same train of thought to make sure my technicians hours are distributed evenly and they all have the opportunity to complete commercial installs along with new training opportunities. Here at CMS we like to have strong technicians capable of independent work, our management team isn't looking over your shoulder at every step of the day.

Cons

In the HVAC industry, the largest drawback will always be long days and some long nights in the summer season. But this is a sign of a successful company and you need to have those days. If you're not self-driven or motivated you could feel lost, without management there to guide you every move.

Pros

There is true opportunity for advancement. Upper management let's you be your own man while still monitoring you. You have the opportunity to do as well as your desire and skillset will let you. Unlimited training opportunity. I see all these guys crying about middle management on here. Never judge a man until you've walked in their shoes. I'm a rsm and I do listen to my techs and address there concerns as best I can. And I've been in this field for almost 20 years and am middle management. And we all know the hours but I work with my techs if you are a tech in my area and need a day off to do something you got it. I've been here for 3 years now and I enjoy it. It was hectic at first getting settled in somewhere new but it always is. I don't think techs are disposable at all they are quite the opposite. They just aren't making them anymore. Everyone is pushing kids into college but if you are intelligent and goal oriented you can make just as much as a service technicians here as most college grads these days.

Cons

Only cons I have are we need more local sales exposure. And some of the vans need replacement. It would be nice to automate truck inventory with an iPad app. Like a Barcode scanning app..
